15 Jan 08         Work-related stress: the time bomb in employers' midst!

Stress and its consequences are rapidly being recognised as an enormous drain on companies’ resources. Stress-related absenteeism, sickness, and civil law claims are just a few examples of the effects of stress at work. There is of course, also a huge human-cost on the individuals affacted by work-related stress.

Health and Safety enforcement agencies agree that work-related stress definitely falls within the scope of health and safety, but courts in various jurisdictions have often delivered contradictory messages. This has left most employers wondering how far their obligations go.

With this in mind, the Institute of Health and Safety is organising a half-day conference on work-related stress. The conference aims to define stress in physiological and psychological terms, and will outline the duties of employers to prevent the causes and effects of stress. It will also suggest a management strategy for dealing with stress to minimise its cost to employers.

More information about this conference will be updated soon.
